Life Legacy


Donald E. Weber, age 77, of Mitchell (formerly of Ethan, SD) died March 22, 2006 at Avera Queen of Peace Hospital. Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Saturday at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Ethan, SD with burial at Holy Trinity Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 PM Friday at the Will Funeral Chapel with a prayer service beginning at 7:00 PM Friday.

Donald E. Weber, son of Nick and Leona (Thelen) Weber, was born October 27, 1928 in rural Dimock, SD. He grew up in the Dimock area and attended catholic school in Dimock and later in Parkston. Don graduated from Parkston High School in 1947. After his schooling, Don helped on the family farm and later traveled by train to North Dakota to pitch bundles. He later returned to the Dimock area.

Don was united in marriage with Delores Hohn on November 14, 1949 in Ethan, SD. The couple farmed west of Ethan for 56 years. During these years of farming, Don was involved in dairy farming and, irrigation farming. He also was a Sokota Seed Corn Dealer, a T&L Irrigation Dealer, and a BZD Seed Salesman. Don retired from farming in 2005 and the couple made their home in Mitchell, SD.

Don was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Ethan, SD. Over the years Don loved to play cards and continued to do so in his retirement.

Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Delores, Mitchell,, SD; nine children, Rick Weber, Canton, TX, Mary Jo Puetz and her husband, Allen, Fremont, NE, Peggy Marie Weber, deceased, Bonnie Cole and her husband, Lyle, Lincoln, NE, Nancy Bain and her husband, Jim, Sioux Falls, SD, Pam Rohr and her husband, Kyle, Princeton, TX, Bob Weber and his wife, Barb, Mitchell, SD, Bill Weber and his wife, Sherri, Savage, MN, Larry Weber and his wife, Deb, Sioux Falls, SD; 20 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; three brothers, Nick Weber and his wife, Mary, Watertown, SD, Tony Weber and his wife, Esther, Parkston, SD, Larry Weber and his wife, Sharon, Lakeville, MN; five sisters, Delores Oxborrow and her husband, Dan, Sparks, NV, Marina Bauhs and her husband, Verdell, Salem, SD, Theresa Hardina and her husband, George, Wisconsin Rapids, WI, Celesta Hohn and her husband, Alfred, Ethan, SD, Devona Nolz and her husband, Alvin, Mitchell, SD; two sister-in-laws, Lexie Schelp, Independence, MO, Minervia Hohn, Mitchell, SD; one brother-in-law, Loren Hohn, Phoenix, AZ; special friend, Casey Belitz, Sioux Falls, SD.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Louella Young, Hilaria Stoehr, Cleo Truijillo; an infant brother, Allen; and an brother-in-law, Alfred Hohn.
